This game will be extremely challenging but it's a great opportunity for us.

I would rather see OM and TCU so I am very glad of this. Even more glad because I have never even thought about seeing a peach bowl.

Was hoping for a New Years Day bowl, but it should be a good game.

The Peach is just as good as a New Year's Day Bowl since it is now one of the 'Access'/Committee Bowls. The Peach, Sugar, Rose, Cotton, Orange and Fiesta will rotate the two playoff spots ever year. This year, the Sugar and Rose get the semis, and the other four get the teams in the 5-12 range. The Peach will get a semi from time to time, so they have now been elevated to the status of the old line bowls like the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Cotton. The Committee needed six bowls to make the concept work, and the Peach was chosen over all the other well-established bowls.

I guess whether or not it's "just as good" is a matter of opinion, but it's not as good of a payout.

the only bowls on New Year's day are the Cotton and the two playoff games. The "New Year's Day 6" include three bowls which are played on the 31st. They are the equivalent of the old BCS bowls. We are in one of them. We are in the best situation we could be in short of the playoffs.

:D sorry, had an immature moment

that being said, we get invited to one of the best bowls other than the playoffs and proud2be still finds a reason to complain...because it is not played 1 day later? smh

wrong... payout for the peach is bigger than the cotton this year...besides Ole Miss will make the same amount of money as all of the other SEC schools... the only benefit of a bowl game for those of us in the SEC is extended practices for the year.

I saw a couple of articles showing "new" payouts. The access bowls are in the $20MM range. The old Chic-fil-a was like $3 MM. The Chic-fil-a Peach bid up their deal to get into this new system. We'll be fine.

I also understand that the SEC puts the net into a "pot" for distribution to all conference teams. Net Proceeds after expense/18=share. Share x 2 for participating team. One each for SEC and other league teams.
I only like helmeted sports, hockey, baseball, football, war.

I agree with the other things you said, but the "same amount of money" comment is not quite right. When an SEC team plays in a bowl game, the team playing gets 30% of the payout. The other 70% of the payout goes to the SEC office and after administrative fees is divided equally among all the SEC schools. That 30% means that the teams that go to major bowls (Alabama, Ole Miss and Miss State) will definitely get more than the remaining SEC schools.
