Next week is a statement game

and will validate if we're for real or not. Last night's win was one of the best in program history but if we want to be a top team we have to take care of business after beating top teams. A&M will be extremely difficult to beat in College Station after the beating they received yesterday. We have to do whatever it takes to avoid losing that game next week.

All was not what it appeared to be after the first week's games. Everyone thought A & M was the team to beat in the SEC West and even the SEC because of the South Carolina beatdown. Not to point out the obvious, but South Carolina is 3-3 and has three losses in the league. LSU was assumed to be a world beater because of the comeback win against Wisconsin. The Badgers lost again this weekend, and LSU was manhandled by Auburn--worst loss ever under Les Miles. Auburn is obviously a player and won the SEC last year. This week will determine the staying power of Ole Miss and State.

Our defense has dictated to all the teams we have played so far, including 'Bama. No reason to think it can't dictate to A & M. We are allowing 10 points a game. I'll believe A & M will score lots of points when I see it.jrebel87 wrote:Yeah but we can't follow up the biggest win in a very long time with a loss to A&M. A&M will be ready for us and they will score some points so we are going to have to play very well.

I see no reason that A&M will score a bunch on us, the key is which Bo will show up. As Bo goes so does this team so its time to BO-lieve

Different sport, same story. I guess if we beat A&M, then Tennessee will be our "statement" game that will prove we are for real. If beating Bama the way we did (20-3 in second half) isn't making a statement, then beating A&M sure won't prove anything.jrebel87 wrote:and will validate if we're for real or not. The only thing that we have to prove is that we are for real and just win the rest of the dang games to shut all these naysayers up once and for all.
By all means have the attitude that A&M is going to lay down for us. And yes, this is absolutely a statement game. We've beaten top ten teams before and then followed that up by not taking care of business the next week. If we are truly a championship caliber team then we follow the Bama win with a win at Kyle field. I have news for those that think this game will be easy: That stadium will hold nearly 100,000 of the most obnoxious and loudest fans we will encounter this year. They just got curb stomped and will be out for blood against a top five team coming into their house. In no way did I downplay our win but its time to move on and focus on A&M because its the next game on the schedule.rebelbear wrote:Different sport, same story. And no one has said it will be an easy game. It's gonna be a tough road from here on out especially when now all of a sudden we are the bullseye. For your reasoning every game will be a statement game so if you want to look at that way then yes it is. IMO the statement has been made, the pollsters read it when they tagged us #3. Now, it's time to chase a playoff spot.

A win is a win is a win. If you don't play to not lose but to WIN, then you will win. Yes, Alabama was great. Do y'all understand WAS?
Each week will get tougher and tougher. We have to stay focused on our NEXT game on Saturday not live in some soft afterglow of the last victory. OBTW, that soft afterglow feels GREAT don't it?
It ain't over till its over.

Umm, did I say anything about A&M laying down for us? We play in the SEC West. EVERY game is tough. You act like if we don't go undefeated then we're not for real. Very slim chances anybody goes undefeated in the SEC this year. Not saying it won't happen, just saying everyone (at least in our division) is really really good.jrebel87 wrote:By all means have the attitude that A&M is going to lay down for us. As far as a statement game goes that would be the Bama game. But if you come in and lay an egg and not show well then the media will just call the Bama game a fluke.
