The only thing that makes any sense is that Womack packed it in weeks ago.....rush defense is about sound tackling, gap responsibilities, and offensive scheme role assignment.......that defense is fast and athletic.....there is just no other answer than to point to coaching.

Freeze realized this just did nothing....I read that he thought Womack deserved to end the year on his terms....

We had players who wouldn't hit anybody. A lot of times they were in position and refused to commit or do their job. You can blame coaching all you want to but it takes effort and we had players who didn't bring it. The thing I do blame on the coaches is putting players on the field who weren't playing hard. That is something that should have been taken care of in the locker room. We had players that should have been told to take their uniforms off at halftime. You can't tell me we didn't have enough players who actually wanted to play to field a team. Anybody who wasn't playing hard should have been gone. You might have gotten your eyes beat out but then at least you would have had a reason and you would have been giving some younger players some experience for better days. We were getting beat any way.

For perspective, if you take just the yardage opposing backs gained before we even touched them, we would not be in the top 50 in rush defense
